PVA Creations

I've been trying to create sky effects on different materials in order to develop one that will let light through. I then had the idea to pour PVA glue onto plastic and apply ink to it. Once the PVA dries you can peel it off and apply it to a light source. They've turned out really well, and there fairly simple to do so I'm going to keep experimenting with PVA and see what other materials I can introduce to create different effects.
These photos are just the pieces stuck on the window, but obviously, my final piece will be a bit more professional looking, hopefully.

I like the colours in this one, although it doesn't scream sky. The close up photos look really good.

This pattern is slightly less successful than the other two, but that's mainly due to the combination of colours, I don't think they quite go.

These two are part of the same piece but seem to of worked better, I think because there is less yellow in this section.

This looks like the sea, I really like it though. I like how there's some gaps in colour, it allows for more light to come through.

The main problem with these creations, is that they are impossible to cut to shape neatly, as they are like plastic once they've dried. So if I want to include one in my final piece I will have to shape it as its drying.

These next two designs I intended to look like fireworks. I don't think they give that impressions, but they are still really nice to look at.

I prefer the first one to the second one. I really like the use of colours in the first one, and how the ink has separated creating gaps in the colour. This will be really useful in my final piece as it lets more light through.

This piece is generally just to yellow.

These next photos were took on my camera, rather than one at college, so the quality isn't so great.

This piece is acrylic paint in PVA. Ink seems to let more light through, which is better for my final piece, so I'm not going to use paint as much. This piece is also very grey, I prefer sunnier colours.

The rest of the photos are of PVA mixed with brush on. This is the best effect I've created, in my opinion. I love how you can see how the colours have separated into smaller pigments and how they sort of swish and swirl together.

This first one was supposed to be 3 individual PVA creations, but they all merged together, I think it looks nice as it is. There is also a hole, where the glue hasn't quite met. This will be really good for letting light through, so I might try and create and put holes in it on purpose.

I took quite a few close ups of each of theses brush on pieces, because you can see how the ink has traveled and how it has mixed with the other colours, I think it looks really cool, and abstract.

This next piece isn't  may favourite. It looks fairly blank in most parts, and doesn't seem to be letting much light through either.

I don't like the shape of this red piece, I still need to work on finding ways to shape these glue creations, but it looks like an ugly animal. The colours have blended nicely in this. There are still blank bits like with the previous one, but they're broken up by colours in this which looks really pretty.

Its like a hedgehog smiling. The holes its eye and the bit that's run down is its snout. I suppose that's the beauty of abstract work though, you can interpret it how you like.

This final piece is my favourite. Mostly for the colours in it. But everything else works in it as well. The way the colours have fallen and blended has created some lovely shapes, and there is the right amount of space between the colours. I also like how there is a solid block of dark colour, it adds contrast to the piece.

Hopefully I can create a piece aesthetically similar to this for my final piece. The glue and the brush on can be fairly unpredictable but I have enough time to perfect it ready in time for the exhibition. I also need to work out a way to shape it successfully.
